Philanthropy Is Alive and Well in the Alliance Community
You Can Feel the Community Pride!
"Early in our Foundation's history we had dreams of becoming a significant financial force to address and support community capital needs. Success would require a broad and significant financial commitment," said Foundation co-founder and past president Jack Peters.
In the early years trustees wondered, would Alliance citizens respond? Peters said "They certainly have, and they have enabled so many worthy projects to date. Just review our annual report. There is another benefit that has come forth - one that may be even more important - community pride! Do you feel it? I do, and I am truly thankful!"
Doug Schwarz, Foundation executive director, feels privileged to be associated with so many people and organizations that are committed to improving the quality of life for residents in the Greater Alliance area. He says, "This is evident by the fact since our inception in 1999, the Greater Alliance Foundation has supported over 70 local organizations with $3,205,000 in grants. The Greater Alliance Foundation is making a difference thanks to the investment of many area citizens with their time, talent, and financial support."
Schwarz encourages you to be a participant in the process to change our community. It is his hope that the grants, initiatives, and programs outlined by the Greater Alliance Foundation along with our Partners in Philanthropy will spark a specific interest that you hold dear for our community. He said, "The Foundation can turn your interest from a spark to a fervent fire of opportunity for the residents in our area."
He notes our Annual Report is available on this web site and by request from our office. He said, "It is our goal as a Foundation to match charitable interests with specific community needs. Your charitable gift can be life changing not only for an individual, but for a family, neighborhood, or an entire community."
Schwarz says he looks forward to the challenges the future brings, and is optimistic that together we can make a difference.
